Qualifications and Requirements

  • To be a mature and growing Christian, who has a strong commitment and passion for Christian camp ministry
  • A love for people, and a desire to bring children, youth, and families into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Identifies closely with the theological stance of Pines Bible Camp and the BCMB Conference, to model an attitude of servanthood, displaying the fruits of the spirit as outlined in the Bible
  • To have experience as an effective team leader, being self-motivated, well organized as well as demonstrating an ability to motivate, train, supervise, and lead by example
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Ideally, have a Bible College Degree and/or experience in the Christian camping ministry with at least 3-5 years of leadership experience
  • To hold and keep current First Aid Standards and Certification in Advanced Wilderness First Aid or equivalent combined with a Transportation Endorsement

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Participate with the Pines Local Leadership Team (henceforth referred to as the LLT) in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the organization
  • Carry out detailed program planning
  • Prepare a monthly report for the LLT summarizing the past month and plans for the next month
  • Recommend policies and procedures necessary for a safe, efficient, and Christ-centered camp program
  • To attend (as a member ex-officio) all BCMB Camp Ministries Committee meetings when invited and provide quarterly/annual reports of camp operations as requested
  • To be willing to assist with any other duties deemed necessary from time to time, at the discretion of the LLT that may provide a benefit to Pines Bible Camp.


  • Oversee the overall camping ministry
  • Responsible for recruitment, training, mentoring, discipline, and evaluations of all staff and volunteers
  • Coordinate camp speakers – Firesides/Devotionals
  • Responsible for facilitating daily staff meetings
  • Facilitate Crisis Management and Conflict Resolution – camper/camper, camper/staff, staff/staff
  • To be involved in pre-Summer ‘setup’ and post-Summer ‘teardown’


  • Responsible for financial oversight and budget development including quarterly and annual financial reports, accurate financial records, invoicing and payments
  • Raise financial awareness and liaison with financial donors to camp ministry
  • Research and oversee the development of fundraising plans
  • Administer the funds of the organization according to the approved budget and monitor the monthly cash flow of the organization


  • Responsible for a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring applicable laws are adhered to
  • To uphold and improve upon all policies, procedures and safety standards in keeping with the requirements of Pines Bible Camp and the BC Camping Association
  • Criminal record check must be completed and kept up to date for every person living on Pines property

Program Development:

  • To continue to develop a well-balanced program in response to the needs of the supporting churches, BCMB conference, community, and schools
  • Represent the programs and point of view of the organization to churches, agencies, organizations, and the community in general
  • Develop a strong working relationship with leaders within the BC Conference of Mennonite Brethren Church and participate in the annual convention
  • Establish good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with community groups, funders, politicians, and other organizations to help achieve the goals of the organization
  • To develop, promote, and implement programming for public and private school programs and church youth groups, liaising with teachers and school administration regarding goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes

Public Relations:

  • To actively be involved in year-round promotion through social media, church visits, and being involved in the community
  • Able and willing to do some travelling
  • Attendance at the BCMB convention to promote Pines Bible Camp opportunities
  • Foster good public relations within the community and with all guests at Pines Bible Camp
  • Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing
  • Willing to attend and conduct presentations


The following is part of the Camp’s operating guidelines:


  • The Camp Director will be appointed by the Pines Bible Camp LLT and then ratified by the BCMB Board of Camp Ministries
  • The Camp Director will be directly accountable to the BCMB Board of Camp Ministries & personnel committee and through them to the LLT
  • The Camp Director will be an ex-officio member of the LLT
  • The Camp Director will be directly accountable to the LLT chairperson and through him to the LLT
  • The Camp Director will be required to become credentialed with the BCMB Conference

Term of Contract

  • The LLT is looking for an individual interested in a five-year term, which may be renewed upon mutual agreement between the LLT and the Camp Director. Start date is to be determined


An evaluation process will take place in the fall of each year on the job performance and expectations
