We are eagerly looking forward to our newly designed, virtual BCMB Convention 2020.
Our theme this year is: A Faithful Witness
What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus. ~ 2 Timothy 1:13
Everyone is welcome to join us virtually on Friday evening, May 1, 2020 for an evening of worship and celebration for all God has done, as we hear stories from some of our churches. We also look forward to honouring our retired missionaries for their years of faithful service.
If there are problems with the embedded video player, you can access the worship service video HERE.
Our BCMB AGM begins at 8:30am on Saturday morning, May 2, 2020. Delegates are invited to REGISTER to join in our live event. Please preview important documents and information below in preparation for our meeting.

A Digitally Registered Delegate is entitled to participate online and vote using the digital communications technology selected by the staff of the Conference who are responsible for hosting the Convention. This technology will be provided at no cost to each registered delegate.
To be enrolled and participate as a Digitally Registered Delegate, the following procedure will be used:
When a call for a vote is made by the Moderator, each Digitally Registered Delegate will indicate their vote using the method described by the Moderator. This might include, but is not limited to, any of the following:
The members of the Ballot Team will be responsible to tally the result of the votes from all delegates.
If a vote by ballot is required, the Moderator will indicate how responses from the Digitally Registered Delegates will be received. This might include, but is not limited to, any of the following:
The members of the Ballot Team will be responsible tally the ballots from all delegates.
Prior to voting on a motion, the Moderator may open the floor for questions. The Moderator will be responsible for managing questions from all delegates in person as well as Digitally Registered Delegates. The same rules of order for the Convention, as set by the Conference, will apply to all delegates. The following guidelines apply to Digitally Registered Delegates:
Note: Equipment will be put in place at the Convention location for any in person delegates to speak to the motion so that they can be seen by all online delegates.
There can be times when technology fails. The Ballot Team will be given the discretion to request that a vote be retaken if they feel that a significant portion of the delegates were somehow prohibited from participating in the vote and would have impacted the results of the vote.
In order for the Ballot Team to evaluate if a vote was impaired, it may be necessary for each Digitally Registered Delegate to indicate a YES, NO, or ABSTAIN response to a vote so that the online results can be validated. For instance, if only 45% of the delegates vote YES and 30% vote NO, it is important to confirm that the remaining 25% abstained as it could change the outcome of the vote.
Note: Members of the Ballot Team shall be at the Convention site as well as online to confirm all results.
In the event that there is a failure in the online technology, the Moderator may discern the need to postpone the meeting temporarily until communication issues are resolved. Email will be used to communicate to all Digitally Registered Delegates. Rules for quorum will still apply once the online meeting is restarted.
Here are some instructions to walk you through the process that we are hoping to follow in this first Virtual AGM.
Firstly, you may notice that you are able to see and hear all of us who are panelists, but your own video is inactive and your microphones are muted. During the course of our meeting, there may be a time you have a question to ask. We invite you to do that at any time by using the “Q&A” function, located at the lower centre of your video screen. You may have to mouse over the screen or touch your screen for it to show up. This will send your question to our panelists and we will be able to either answer you live during the Q&A period or type out an answer for you.
Alternatively, you can use the “chat” function to send a message to all panelists, and that will get to us as well. At some point during prayer, we may open the chat options up so that you can send a chat to all panelists and attendees. We will advise you when this is going to happen.
When we arrive at our open-mic Question and Answer period, you may use the “raise hand” function, located beside the “Q&A” and “chat” functions to alert us that you have a question to ask. We will then use the chat function to let you know when we will enable your microphone so that you can ask your question live.
During the course of our meeting, we will have times when we will need our DELEGATES’ input to make decisions. There will be motions to approve, nominations to affirm, and recommendations to vote on as well. For all of these situations, we will advise you to either use the “raise hand” function or to answer using a “poll” function which will pop up on your screen. We ask that all DELEGATES enter an answer for ALL poll questions. There will always be Yes/No/Abstain options available and voting will be done anonymously. We ask that all GUESTS or non-voting attendees NOT participate in the hand raising or poll completion at all (simply closing the polling window should suffice). This will help us to ensure that our votes are measured as accurately as possible. Voting results for our Recommendations will be posted once they are reviewed by the Ballot Committee, and you will be able to access those results at the lower section of your video screen under “polls” once they have been processed.
If technological difficulties arise that cause our meeting to end unexpectedly for some reason, we will be in touch with all of our attendees via email as soon as we are able, to advise on what steps we are taking to re-launch the meeting.
*Please advise us via email if you have joined by phone and require an alternative way to vote.
