There is a critical need for church leaders to address issues of power abuse and sexual misconduct. The Sacred Trust workshop provides a safe and structured environment for pastors to explore the dynamics of the abuse of power, recognize warning signs, and establish preventative measures.
Participants will leave with the convictions and practical tools needed to guide and guard their ministry. You will learn of resources available from BCMB i.e. child safe and sexual misconduct policies and connect with other BCMB leaders. We will conclude our time with a commissioning of you into your ministry setting.
Speakers
Reg Toews, Executive Director, BCMB
Reg is the Executive Director for BCMB. He has pastored churches for over 40 years, being 20 years in one local church. During this time, he has walked churches through incidents of sexual and ministerial misconduct. In one situation, a serial sexual abuser was identified and ultimately criminally charged. In another, a predator was identified and given clear guidelines for church attendance and interactions. He has walked a church through pastoral misconduct seeing the church move to healing and health. Shepherding the flock that is under your care is one of his passions. He knows that it starts with us personally.
Rick Bayer, Director of Pastoral Ministries, BCMB
After 35 years of local church pastoring, Rick stepped into the role of being the Director of Pastoral Ministries for the BCMB. In his decades of pastoral work, he has seen and experienced all sorts of pastoral successes and failures. He brings a heart of coaching pastoral leaders towards health and vitality and deeply longs for BCMB leaders to finish well.
